President’s Message – December 2022

Hi everyone and a belated welcome to December.  It seems that winter is not too far away but we certainly can’t complain because November has been spectacular.   We were able to get out for a superb club run on 5th November to celebrate Guy Fawkes Day.   The morning temperature started at 10C and by the afternoon we reached almost 25C.  Amazing!  Ten cars took part in the drive including 3 TR6s, 2 Spitfires and one each of a TR3, TR4, TR250 and Sunbeam Tiger.

We had a very successful virtual Toronto Triumph Club AGM in November when we reviewed our 2022 activities, discussed items underway for the coming year and approved Board and Co-ordinator positions for 2023.

In summary, our finances are healthy, our membership continues to grow steadily and is now at 353 club members, communication via Ragtop, social media and messaging is top notch, our new Website and Membership database are exemplary and we have a dedicated team of board members and coordinators in place for 2023.    As detailed in my last e-blast there are a couple of positions still available and it’s not too late to apply for them.  If you are interested call me any time and we can talk.

A reminder that the British Car council gives long distance awards for any club member who does over 3000 miles (5000 kilometers) in their British cars in 2022 from Jan 1st to Dec 31st.  If you meet this distance criteria, please send Clive Huizinga at clivehuizinga@yahoo.com and include the following information:

  • Your name – it will be on the award.
  • Address to send the award to.
  • Opening and closing mileometer readings – distance driven will be on the award.
  • Type of car and year – this will be on the award.

Clive will submit all requests for awards in early January.

I’ve been busy playing catch-up on posting information onto our website.   I just completed loading up the British Car Day photos which include brilliant shots from Larry Llewellyn on the whole day’s event including all the award winners.  In addition, Ian Grant took some wonderful shots of show cars entering the park.   Take a look at https://torontotriumph.com/photos-of-toronto-triumph-events/ to find out more.  As there are so many photographs there are 6 albums.

The winter weather is just around the corner so drive carefully on your winter tires as we head into the Christmas season.

Cheers; Dave
