Good day everyone and hope all is well! It’s been over a year now since COVID-19 reared its ugly head but now that there are a number of vaccines available let’s hope we can all get our shots soon and get back to some semblance of normalcy. While most of February was cold and snowy in this part of the world we got a welcome break yesterday and I had the joy of washing my Subaru on the driveway … and boy did she need it! February was a busy month for our club which kicked off with our annual quiz hosted, as always, by Terence McKillen who posed a variety of challenging questions – 44 in total – on anything-related-to-cars with a bent towards Brit. ones. 28 club members tuned in to our Zoom meeting and the eventual winners were Wayne McGill, with an impressive score of 41 points, followed by Glen Donaldson and Tony Fox with more high scores of 37 and 35 respectively. Congratulations gentlemen on your extensive knowledge. Each of them received a Tim’s gift card.
I’m delighted to report that 28 of us sent pictures of our 37 Triumphs to “Drive Your Triumph Day” on 10th February to celebrate Sir John Black’s 126th birthday. That compares nicely with the participation from last year and what amazed me was that 14 Triumph models were featured. Details are shown in the above chart which also depicts Steven Bakker’s shiny Spitfire, one of the many cars that braved the February 10th weather. Here’s the URL if you want to take a look at the over 500 photos on the web site that were sent from all over the world https://driveyourtriumphday.shutterfly.com/ I took a number of runs through this website and transferred club member’s pics to our own web site at https://torontotriumph.com/photos-of-toronto-triumph-events/ If I missed any please let me know.
Congratulations to the following club members who drove the required distance:
It’s hard to believe but ten years ago today we flew out to Kelowna where Maggie bought me a fantastic birthday present from Len Drake of Drake’s British Motors. It was of course the TR250 which we’ve enjoyed so much since then. We are looking forward to many more years of fun motoring in this fine Triumph … starting in the spring which hopefully is not too far away. Take care and please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.
Cheers; Dave
