Here we are, headed into the core summer months. What a busy June it has been! Almost all of the June weekends were busy, so driving the TR6 was a bit limited for Olivia and me: We had a family wedding, then a friends’ reunion, then birthdays/fathers day. Last weekend was the Canadian Classic, where driving the LBC was the primary activity for a change!
Speaking of which, The Classic was held in the Ottawa Valley June 20-23. After a very hot drive to Peterborough on Thursday, we faced cooler and wetter weather for the rest of the weekend. 23 cars (46 members and their partners/navigators) made it to the starting line in Peterborough. The event had a few hiccups, which I won’t go into details about here, but I do wish Bev, Vic, and Laurie speedy recoveries, and Frank and Jim the mechanical parts and assistance needed to keep their LBCs running well.
The rain didn’t dampen our spirits as we enjoyed the wonderful roads and activities of the area. Watch for a detailed report on the event in the summer Ragtop. Thank you to Rob Ragsdale, assisted by Clive Huizinga and Alex McLoed, for organising the event, and to Michael Ragsdale for capturing the event in photos (https://bit.ly/3W0lGzf).
Dave Sims organised a visit to the Williamsburg Retirement Residence in Burlington on June 26th. We limited our participation to ten rs due to the small parking lot. The event was well attended by residents of the facility and some of the staff. Thank you, Dave, for organising this community-focused event.
Next on the calendar are:
- A pub night/meeting in Unionville on Thursday July 11th
- The Summer BBQ on Saturday July 27th
- A July weekend Central drive (TBD)
- Other events as listed on our Club Calendar and under Upcoming Events here (login required)
I hope to see you at one or more of these events.
We’ve completed the revision of our Bylaws to keep us in compliance with new Ontario law that came into effect recently. The Board will review these minor changes on July 16th, after which we’ll schedule a virtual Special Members Meeting in August to approve the updates. Watch for the email invitation.
