President’s Message – June 2024

Happy June!

May the 4th Lineup

What a difference a month makes weather-wise. We came into May after the wettest April on record, and have enjoyed a pleasant spring with moderate temperatures and “just enough” rain. Our driving season has started in earnest with several drives and outings, including:
– A “May the 4th Be With You” central drive (4 cars)

– A “haphazard” Cars & Coffee morning in Etobicoke (5 cars)

– Two Victoria Day weekend drives (16 and 9 cars)

– Spring Fling (43 cars)

Part of the May 20th Central drive lineup
Spring Fling was damp but very well attended with only one car dropping out before we got started. There was one day-of casualty, a leaky clutch, in Frank and Pauline’s TR3A, but they were able to squeeze into Chris & Sheila’s Stag for the day. We had a wet morning and lunch break, but the skies brightened in time for dinner! The games and draw were fun (lots of prizes!), and everyone went home with a bottle of wine, some new friends, and memories of a fun event with the MGCCT. Thank you Dawn and Roger for organising such a wonderful event!

We’ve completed a draft revision of our Bylaws to keep us in compliance with new Ontario law that came into effect recently. The draft revision will be presented to the board in July. After review and approval there, we will be scheduling a Special Members Meeting in August to approve the revisions as this all has to be completed before October. Watch for the email invitation.

We need your help! Terence has been doing a bang-up job of assembling and publishing Ragtop (you should have the Spring issue in hand now), but he can’t do it alone! If you have completed a project, have one underway, or are contemplating taking one on, we want to hear about it! If you have an idea for an article but are unsure about how to pull it together, give me or Terence a shout and we can help you. Please consider contributing to YOUR magazine.
