President’s Message – September 2022

President’s Message – September 2022

Hard to believe that it’s September already … and British Car Day is but a short 17 days away … and it’s over 1,000 days since the last one!   FAST LANE Pre-registrations so far are at ~450 which is a record and we are expecting a bunch more in the next week.   Talking of which FAST LANE will close at midnight on Friday 9th September so if you haven’t already, please register your car at https://torontotriumph.com/BCD/reg/registration.html

In August – after two failed attempts because of inclement weather – we at last managed to hold a car show at the V!VA Retirement Centre in Mississauga.   Two TR6, a Spitfire, a TR3A, a Herald and aTR250 were on display and we got to chat and reminisce with some of the residents.  One notable chap we spoke with was 98 years old and he had lots of stories to share on his motoring past.  Neat!

Last weekend on a glorious summer day Derek led a group of 19 cars – mostly Triumphs – on a tour around the Georgetown / Glen Williams area.   A very good time was had by all on a lovely S. Ontario route and Derek received lots of kudos for organizing this wonderful drive.

To celebrate the Labour Day long weekend, on Saturday 3rd September, we have a Campbellville to Campellville drive planned.   Starting at the Trail Eatery we are meeting for a coffee and pit stop at around 9:30 a.m., then at 10 a.m. we will head off on a 1½ hour tour of approximately 67 miles.   If you want to find out more or haven’t signed up already, here’s the link …

A number of you will be heading down to the British Invasion in Stowe, Vermont which will be held from 9th to 11th September.   I look forward to hearing all about it so please take lots of photos for publication in Ragtop.   For full information on this weekend go to https://www.britishinvasion.com/

At 9:00 a.m. on both Sunday 11th September and Sunday 25th September Derek is hosting a Central-West Cars & Coffee Meet-up at Montesanto Bakery, 5 Lavington Ave, Toronto (Kipling & Dixon area).  If you enjoy chatting about cars (who doesn’t?) and want to try out a delicious a pastry why don’t you drop by.  No registration is necessary.

On the morning of Saturday 17th September we will be busy setting-up for British Car Day at Bronte Creek Provincial Park.    To say “thank you” to those who have volunteered to help we will provide a pizza lunch at around noon.  Soon after – around 1:00 p.m. – Terence and Tony will then lead a drive which will end up at Terence’s farm near Rockwood.   An invitation to join in the drive will be sent to TTC members shortly.

I look forward to seeing you at British Car Day but in the meantime if you have any questions, please call me.

Cheers; Dave
