This is a driver-quality car with a difference: the original 3.5L has been replaced with a re-built 4.6 L Rover aluminum V8, all work done by TWS Motors (formerly The Wedge Shop) of Taunton, Massachusetts. This engine is fitted with a Holley 4-bbl carburetor on an Edelbrock Performer intake manifold, a Mallory distributor, an Erson performance camshaft and ceramic coated headers. A “seat of your pants” horsepower estimate (NOT on a dyno, but from an experienced racer) is 200-225 HP. Power is transferred through a 5-speed manual transmission to 14″ Panasport wheels wrapped with BF Goodrich Unidirectional 195/60R/14 tires.
The car has 132,2000 km, and was sold new in Canada. An Ontario Safety Standards certificate was issued in June/23, and since then, it has received a new battery, exhaust centre H-section, fuel pump, aftermarket seat covers and a Canada Car Covers four-season cover.
This car is an ideal platform for a full restoration. There is minimal surface rust underneath, and none evident on the bodywork. There are various nicks, stone chips and one small dent on the top of the passenger side rear fender. The original factory seat covers are tired, but serviceable. The top, tonneau, and boot cover are in good condition. The MotoLita steering wheel feels great. The JVC Bluetooth stereo works well, and the interior is good. The trip odometer re-set knob and cable are not functioning, and the tachometer needle fluctuates. One of the four speakers is intermittent. There is some minor fluid seepage, but over the course of it’s heated, indoor winter storage, was minimal: no top-ups required. This is a power steering assist, non-AC car.
The next owner can drive this car while working on it to bring it to its full potential. My plan was to do exactly that, but with a recent death in the family, another family member diagnosed with a terminal illness, and executorship duties for both, my attention is directed to those matters. The car has to go. The car will come with an Ontario Used Vehicle Information Package. Certification and appraisal can be arranged, or you can arrange those yourself. I’m looking for $18,000. I will consider reasonable offers. Viewing by appointment. There is a Youtube video of this car – open this link.
