President’s Message for November 2024

President’s Message for November 2024

Happy day after Halloween!
As I write this message we are experiencing our end-of-October warm spell. I hope that you have been able to take advantage of the weather these last couple of days and enjoy some outdoor activities; I managed to get a game of golf in on Wednesday, with no jacket required.
As the driving season has been winding down only a couple of organised events took place in October:
– Seventeen members and guests made the trek to Oshawa on October 19th to visit the Canadian Automotive Museum. They have quite a collection of rare and unique cars; it’s worth a visit for any auto enthusiast. Six Triumphs carried some of the visitors (it was a long drive on the 401 for me and my TR6 to get there).

– Roughly 31 cars took part in the MGCCT’s Brass Monkey fundraiser run on Sunday, October 18th (the same day as the Rockton event). The TTC was well represented with 6 Triumphs (a TR7, two TR6s, two Spitfires, and a TR3) and one Corvair in attendance. The weather was glorious.

Our Annual General Meeting is coming up on Saturday, November 16th at 10:30 am. I hope that you are able to join the meeting in person or via zoom – see the invitation email(s) for details. Please remember to register if you plan to attend.

On October 22nd I sent a “President’s End of Fiscal Year Plea to Members” email. I’d like to take a moment to reiterate the importance of what I shared in that email: Your Club is urgently in need of your assistance. In order for the Club to continue to exist and for you to continue receiving RAGTOP and (hopefully) attending British Car Day, we need more volunteers! The three immediate needs that must be dealt with before the end of the year are:
– A replacement for Clive Huizinga as Treasurer;
– A replacement for Terence McKillen as Communications Director;
– A new RAGTOP Assistant Editor to assist Terence and take over the Editor role within the next 24 months;

There are also many other open positions – all are listed in the AGM invitation email. Only YOU can help keep the club viable. Please consider taking on one of these positions.

Sincerely

Derek McAllister

President, Toronto Triumph Club
