Happy May! We’ve just exited the rainiest April on record – no surprise to anyone, I’m sure! While the month was mostly gloomy, the solar eclipse on April 8th was a highlight that I hope many of you were able to enjoy! Now that we have moved on to May the gorgeous weather beckons, and it is 22 C outside. Everyone is chomping at the bit to get out for a drive so I had arranged an outing for this Saturday morning. Unfortunately, the weather looks poor, so we’ll postpone the drive to a later date to be determined. |
We held a lunch meeting on April 13th at a pub just up the road in the west end of Toronto. We had a pretty good turnout with 13 members and spouses making the trek. The food was good, but the parking lot ended up being a little small – we’ll find another place for our next lunch. Gord and Fanny won the impromptu long-distance award after driving a total of 100 km in their yellow Stag to make the event! |
Attendance at the season-opening Ancaster event on the 21st was quite robust with many cars making the trek on what turned out to be a cloudy and cold day. We chatted with many members at our table as they wandered amongst the crowded pavilion. Thank you for doing most of the organising, Dave, and thank you Clive, Rob, Ron and Al for manning our table. |
Our next scheduled Club event is Spring Fling. It’s being held in the Jordan Bench (Niagara) area on Saturday May 25th with the MGCCT. This is a one day event with optional hotel stay(s) for attendees. Info and registration can be found here: https://bit.ly/49ceswm. Registration closes on May 10th! In June the Canadian Classic is back! We’re running it June 20-23 through the Ottawa and Mississippi River Valleys with several exciting and interesting stops along the way. We have 24 cars signed up for what will be an exciting event! Watch for other organised drives popping up in May and June – email invitations will be sent as these drives are put together. Also, mark your calendars for this year’s Club BBQ, planned for Saturday July 27th. Watch for additional information closer to the event.I hope to see you at one or more of these events! As a reminder, we are looking for volunteers for the following positions for 2024:
If you have any interest in any of these positions please contact me any time. Sicerely Derek McAllister President, Toronto Triumph Club |
