Good day everyone and hope all is well! Last weekend was spectacular with highs of 10C which meant I was able to give my cars a thorough wash on the driveway. Oh joy! Today though the weather tuned a little wintry and I was out clearing snow … so I guess it’s going to be a little while before we can get our Triumphs on the road.
First of all I’m delighted to report that 21 of us sent pictures of our 22 Triumphs to “Drive Your Triumph Day” on 10th February to celebrate Sir John Black’s 125th birthday. Paul Cocarell’s Roadster is shown above and here’s the URL if you want to take a look at the over 300 photos on the web site that were sent from all over the world https://driveyourtriumphday.shutterfly.com/.
Our winter Ragtop featured some excellent articles on the Stag which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. As a follow-up, Tony Fox came across rare development footage of ‘Project Stag’, a Triumph Stag documentary entitled THE DREAM CAR (1970). It’s quite long at 40 minutes but very informative and shows how much effort went into bring the Michelotti-designed Stag into production. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWWErDU09JU&feature=youtu.be&fbclid=IwAR2bA-ONDJsypymuRkvzSG3oD4M2oI5aYU735c0hHoDRamaG726aK3KZbVE
Which brings me to our upcoming events …
Club Meeting at J.D. Auto on Tuesday 10th March
DATE: Tuesday 10th March
TIME: 7:00 p.m.
ADDRESS: 301 Rexdale Blvd, Etobicoke, ON, M9W 1R8.
Joe Dudovac will be hosting us for an evening of discussions on what makes your car tick (noisy tappets perhaps). We’ve received a couple of requests from club members on what they would like Joe to review – carburation, gear boxes and strange noises from drive trains – but if there’s something else you would like to know about please drop Rob Ragsdale a line asap at email@example.com so that Joe can be prepared. Joe is looking after quite a few club members’ cars and is fast becoming the go-to guy for looking after LBCs. He really knows his stuff. The club will provide finger food and soft drinks around 8:15 p.m.
MGCCT Go Kart Night on Tuesday 17th March
As mentioned in my recent e-blast the MG Car Club of Toronto has kindly invited Toronto Triumph Club members to their Go Kart Night at k1 SPEED, located at Downsview Park. If you want to participate and challenge our MG friends you MUST register by 6th March. Here are the details:
Calling all Go Kart Racers – We’ve managed to arrange a fun night of indoor Go Kart racing. Don’t worry about any fumes or loud noise. There aren’t any. The Go Karts are electric. And FAST! We held similar events for several years at this location when it was operating as Grand Prix Kartways and were very impressed with the performance of the karts and the quality of the track. The new owners have improved the facilities, karts and track layout, so come on out for a fun night.
- Location: k1 SPEED, 75 Carl Hall Road, Unit 9, Toronto, ON. M3K 2B9 (for more information on the karts and the track, visit: www.k1speed.ca.
- Timing: Plan to arrive at 7:00pm – Drivers’ meeting at 7:15pm – Start racing at 7:30pm.
- Price: The cost is $65.00 per person ($55.00 + HST + Handling Fee) for 2 races which includes private race times for our group, trophies or medals, personalized score sheets for each racer, a podium ceremony at the end and a complimentary balaclava for you to keep. We are inviting members of the Toronto Triumph Club to participate which should make it a bit of a challenge event between the clubs.
- Registration: As we are booking this as a group event, each participant will need to register and pay in advance. We are limited in numbers so registration will be first come, first served. Please register by March 6 at the following URL: www.mgtoronto.com/gokart.html

I’m looking forward to getting out to Ancaster in April … less than 2 months away. Details are included on our Events Calendar and at http://www.ancasterbritish.ca/
Look forward to seeing a good crowd at Joe’s on 10th March, in the meantime keep warm!
