President’s Message – September 2024

President’s Message – September 2024

Happy September!

August has been coming to an end with large fluctuations in temperature, culminating with a wet Labour Day weekend. Some days have been wonderful and inviting for a top-down drive, while others have been as stiflingly hot as July was. Thankfully, most of the days on which we happened to schedule events were of the inviting kind!

We had good club representation at the Gathering of the Classics event on August 10th. The weather held and we had a cloudy but pleasant day: Eight members registered for the drive up from Kleinburg and an additional eight members registered for the event itself. We parked together on the grass near the tarmac and had a wonderful view of the planes coming and going.

Our “Triumph Takeover” of the Classic Country Thursday event in Port Credit on August 15th was also well-attended with eight members coming out despite the horrendous traffic in all directions. It was a hot evening to start, but temperatures abated as the sun started setting – the drive home was very pleasant.

Our visit to the Canadian Steam Museum on August 24th was also well-attended with twelve registrants on a wonderfully sunny day. The museum is amazing; it’s a must-see for anyone who enjoys big machines and/or the history of technology and farming.

Our revised bylaws were approved by unanimous vote at our virtual Special Member’s Meeting on August 27th.  Thank you to those who were able to join the meeting and get us to a quorum in order to hold the vote.
